The event brought together a group of panelists from across a wide range of disciplines speaking on ideas related to redefining the good life and reconsidering creative value in the 21st century.

Atomic Zune HD explodes all over Ebay

Hey, remember that totally wild, awesome looking "Atomic" Zune HD we spied evidence of in the source files a week or so ago? Well, we later saw an image or two of it, but now one's shown up in the flesh on ebay -- and for a starting bid of a mere 265 bones you might be able to snag it! This one's a 32GB model, and while we still don't know if it's going to be officially released or not, we get the feeling that it probably will. Regardless, we'd advise starting a bidding war anyway. Labels: drag and drop, hiding, and more

Posted by Damian Gajda, Software Engineer
A few months ago Gmail got some new buttons and keyboard shortcuts to make labeling easier, especially for those of you accustomed to that familiar folder feel. Now we're making some more changes to Gmail's labeling toolkit.

You'll notice your labels in a new location on the left of your inbox (or on the right, for those of you using the Arabic, Hebrew, or Urdu versions of Gmail). Instead of havingSource: Official Gmail Blog RSS Feed

Small custom PC builders to ship Windows 7 early on custom PCs

If you are desperate for a new computer, but you want Windows 7 and you don’t want to have to upgrade after the purchase you may be thinking you have to wait until October 22. Apparently, small custom PC makers are being allowed to ship full machines with Windows 7 a bit early.

PC maker Puget Systems has a little blurb on their website that says when customers order a new PC and choose Windows 7 as the OS the computer may ship with OS installed as early as October 13. That is onlySource: SlashGear RSS Feed

Hands On: Darksiders Wage War Against Zombies, Dumpsters

TOKYO — I played Darksiders on the Tokyo Game Show floor just minutes after the high-flying skinny-dipping antics of Bayonetta, and the two third-person action games couldn’t have felt more different.

While Bayonetta is light on her feet as she dances and leaps around the screen, Darksiders‘ main character War is much more grounded, and moves slowly and deliberately. She uses guns and magical powers, he prefers a giant sword along with whatever junk he can get his oversized mittsSource: Game|Life RSS Feed

Samsung adds CorbyTXT B3210 and CorbyPRO B3410 to cheap and youthful Corby family

We  didn’t call Samsung B3210 a Corby look alike for nothing, when we spotted it posing at IFA Berlin earlier this month.

It turns out that Samsung Corby S3650 won’t be a single separate device. It will be a part of a whole Corby family – a line of cheap and colorful handsets aimed towards the youth market.

Two more Corby devices have been announced by Samsung at a launch event in Milan this evening. And one of them is none other then the same Samsung B3210, that fromSource: Unwired View RSS Feed

Google Picasa 3.5 Takes Some Cues From iPhoto ‘09

In case you’re an Apple user who isn’t on board with iPhoto ‘09, Google has just updated its own free image management software, Picasa, which shares its name with the web-based Flickr rival. Picasa 3.5 for Mac takes a lot of direction from iPhoto ‘09, borrowing at least two major features from Apple’s own software.

How To Attach The Space Shuttle To A Boeing 747 [Planelopnik]

Because the Space Shuttle occasionally has to use alternate landing places, NASA uses two heavily modified 747 aircraft to ferry them around the world. Check out how they mate the shuttle to the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft below.

Click “next” to scroll through the steps involved in dropping the giant space shuttle on the even larger cargo jet. Humorously, the technicians painted a note stating “Attach Orbiter Here” with the sarcastic note: “Black Side Down.”

Teclast to debut Android-powered PMP? Wake us up when it arrives

Oh, Android -- it's obvious that someone out there wants to see it on tablets, netbooks, toaster ovens -- anything, really, that sports a processor and a display (OK, never mind the toaster oven). Now Teclast, fine purveyors of media players with such exciting features as "buttons" and "batteries," just might have a PMP in the works that sports the buzzworthy open source OS. Scene It? *will* use BUZZ! controllers (on PS3™)

The battle of the console-exclusive peripheral-wielding weirdly-punctuated trivia games has come to an end ... with PlayStation the victor. WBIE is bringing Scene It?, the former 360-exclusive trivia game, to PS3 and Wii. While the 360 version was bundled with a set of special Scene It? controllers, the PS3 and Wii versions of the game will let you simply use your ol' fashioned DualShocks and Wii Remotes.
But what if you want to use a wacky peripheral? Don't fret, as you'll be able toSource: PS3 Fanboy RSS Feed

IR technology would prevent in-theater video recording

There’s an old Seinfeld episode where Jerry agrees to become a bootlegger. His skills at recording the screen with a tiny, hand-held camera are top-notch, so he’s roped into helping out the little kid on the street who can’t get into R rated movies. You know the episode I’m talking about, the one where Elaine dances all weird. (Here comes the horrible segue-way!) If this new technology is widely adopted, episodes like that won’t ever happen again.

Oddities in Furniture

Every once in a while, not often!, but sometimes, Yanko Design features a designer who’s more of an artist, more of a visionary looking in to a different dimension. This is one of those times. Everyman Skype USB Headset — A Great Value for Skypers

Regular readers know that I couldn’t do without Skype. The voice over IP service has been a daily staple in my routine since early 2005. Since I use it so much, I’m a perfect candidate to test out new Skype accessories like the FREETALK Everyman USB headset I have on loan. I was initially skeptical because of the headset’s low, $22.88 price tag. But as they say, the proof is in the pudding. The Zune HD is sold out and backordered all over the place. Nicholas got the last one in his local Best Buy, and your favorite online retailer is probably waiting for their next shipment (32GB versions especially). Sure, it’s probably the result of retailers underestimating customer demand, but hey, I think Microsoft will take all the sold outs it can get.

Sony Asia president discusses repercussions of piracy

During GC Asia's Sony keynote, SCE Asia president Tetsuhiko Yasuda delivered a keynote on piracy and how it's affecting his region. Piracy has always been a big deal in Asia, but Yasuda says it's getting to the point where it's deterring the gradual development of the Asian games industry.
Yasuda said that the loss of sales due to software piracy has affected employees at almost every level of development, from the producer who hasn't been able to receive royalties to the youthSource: Houstonist RSS Feed

Nippon Ichi reveals Disgaea Infinite visual novel

Nippon Ichi continues to crank out announcements for its new upcoming games -- though calling this one a "game" might be a bit of a stretch. Though Disgaea Infinite shares a name, setting and characters with the core Disgaea series, it's far from a strategy-RPG title. In fact, this installment is a PSP visual novel, starring a Prinny who's tasked with solving a murder by possessing other characters and reading their minds.
As you might be able to tell from the above description (andSource: PS3 Fanboy RSS Feed

World of Warcraft Players Tell Their Stories

The common perception of World of Warcraft is that the immensely popular online game is a haven for obsessive nerds — folks with no lives and little to contribute to society.

The new “Player Stories” section of the World of Warcraft community site aims to accentuate the positive. While most anecdotes about World of Warcraft lean to the juvenile and the negative — accounts of pranks, tales of addiction or public airings of shameful behavior – theseSource: Game|Life RSS Feed

It is pretty obvious to everyone that the newspaper industry is in a tiny bit of trouble. They have thus far failed to reach the rapidly changing landscape of news, online news at that. Microsoft and Google among others have recently entered the picture with solutions to the problem and some fresh eyes from a digital perspective.

250GB Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2 Limited Edition

In what will likely make Activision CEO Bobby Kotick say something disturbing, Microsoft is releasing a Modern Warfare 2 Limited Edition version of the Xbox 360 with a 250GB hard drive.

Distro Deals: A Single Man and Valhalla Rising Bought at TIFF; Soderbergh’s Knockout to Lionsgate
